Challenges of Red Teaming and TIBER Exercises — Cyber Meet-Up 2023
Cyber Meet-Up 2023 (Excellium Services Belgium — Cyber Solutions by Thales) — Quartier Papier, Zaventem, Belgium, September 21, 2023
At Cyber Meet-Up 2023, the conference where the Belgian community meets cybersecurity, I gave a talk on the challenges of red teaming and TIBER exercises, drawing on my experience leading the Intrusion & Application Security team at Excellium Services and serving as Red Team Leader on TIBER-EU engagements.
The session (16h40–17h10) covered what distinguishes a red team operation from a classical penetration test, and what changes again when the engagement is run under the TIBER framework: threat-intelligence-driven scenarios, live production systems as the target, and the coordination required between the red team, the white team and the regulator’s TIBER cyber team.
The day gathered speakers from Excellium Services, Thales, Splunk, Trend Micro, Armis, Wallix and Pentera around offensive security, detection, compliance (DORA, NIS 2) and OT security.
