Firefox, Chromium & Thunderbird for Home Assistant

I publish a Home Assistant add-on repository that provides Firefox and Chromium running as apps (formerly add-ons) directly inside Home Assistant. They are handy to display any local or external website from a wall-mounted dashboard, and the browser profile is persisted so extensions and settings are kept across restarts.

The repository offers a standard Firefox app, an “Edge” variant that updates to the latest Firefox version on start, and a Chromium app. It is shared with the community on the Home Assistant forum.

The same repository also provides a Thunderbird app, bringing a full email client into Home Assistant so you can read your mailboxes directly from your home dashboard, without installing anything on the device displaying it.

As of October 2026, each new release of these apps is downloaded about 20,000 times from the GitHub container registry. Home Assistant’s opt-in analytics report close to 3,900 active installations, mostly Firefox, a lower bound since only users who enable analytics are counted.
